More Activities September ’24

This month, our residents had the pleasure of continued visits from a wonderful array of external groups who bring something extra special to our activity teams
Sarah from The Painted Ladies have been a fantastic support for our activity teams, inspiring creativity with seasonal art projects, including vibrant wall murals in each home.
Lauren from Baby Glow brings an intergenerational experience to our residents, allowing them to share joyful moments with young children under 5 in a lively parent and child group. These gatherings foster connection and bring happiness to everyone involved.
Petpals visit provides an opportunity for residents to interact with small animals. This interaction is especially valuable for those unable to join our farm visits, allowing them to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of animal companionship right at home.
Jane and Helen from Dementia Singing Experience Sussex (DSES) offer lively sessions filled with music and dance. Jane and Helen bring infectious enthusiasm that lifts spirits and creates a warm and inclusive atmosphere. This is a charity, the ladies join us on a voluntary basis for which we are so grateful. to support this fantastic organisation, we are planning a Christmas raffle with proceeds going to their charity.
September was also filled with a variety of engaging activities crafted to keep our residents entertained, active, and connected:
- Creative Workshops: From autumnal crafts and painting stones for the garden to making lavender bags, residents had many hands-on opportunities to explore their creativity.
- Technology Engagement: One-on-one iPad sessions offered residents a chance to connect with modern technology.
- Culinary Experiences: Baking events, including a “Bake-Off” at Whitecliff, brought out everyone’s inner chef. We also had soup and pizza-making sessions that encouraged culinary exploration.
- Recreational Fun: Bingo (including bed bingo), word games, board games, and floor games allowed all residents to participate, with options tailored for accessibility.
- Themed Activities: Armchair travel took residents to Mexico, where they learned about the culture and history, while reminiscing sessions sparked conversations about 1960s fashion and old comics.
Each month, these activities enhance the quality of life for our residents, providing opportunities for socialisation, creativity, and joy. As we look forward to October, we’re excited to see the continued positive outcomes for our residents.
