Coast Care Centre Specialisms

At Coast Care Centre, we have lots of experience in caring for service users who have a range of complex clinical and behavioural needs. We have experience in caring for a wide range of conditions such as Huntington’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, spinal injuries etc.

We also have lots of experience in caring for service users with complex behavioural needs, our staff are trained in ways of keeping the service users anxiety free and promoting a positive quality of life.

For more specialist types of care, we enrol our staff on bespoke, in-house training courses, to provide them with the higher level of expertise, to manage these conditions.

At Coast Care Centre, we are experienced in providing Palliative and End of Life care. We are knowledgeable in how to ensure our service users are kept comfortable and pain free, as they approach the end of their life. We liaise very closely with the local GPs to ensure any medication is sourced and provided ahead of time. Our nurses are also trained in administering and managing the use if JIC medications as well as syringe drivers.

We also ensure that we provide a high level of support throughout to both the individual and their family members. We feel it is important to ensure the service user is not anxious or scared through this time and understand how vital the communication with family members is, to ensure this difficult time goes as smoothly as possible.

At Coast Care Centre, we specialise in providing high quality nursing care for people living with dementia, including those with advanced or complex needs. We understand that dementia care requires more than clinical expertise. It demands patience, compassion and a personalised approach that respects the individual and their life story.

Our team create a calm and structured environment that reduces anxiety, encourages familiarity and promotes wellbeing. Staff receive specialist dementia training, equipping them with the skills to deliver care that is both clinically effective and emotionally supportive. We also work closely with families and healthcare professionals to ensure that every aspect of care is tailored to the person’s needs, from medical support to daily routines.

Above all, our focus is on maintaining dignity, comfort and quality of life, while offering reassurance and peace of mind to both residents and their loved ones.

At Coast Care Centre, we have an allocation of Discharge to Assessment beds, which we have had in place since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. We work closely with the NHS to provide 19 block-booked NHS beds, which help to relieve the pressures on the NHS system.

Those beds are short term placements that allow the service user to come out of hospital and be assessed by a social worker, to plan their long-term placement. During this time, the individual can also be seen by specialists in the community, such as JCR, SALT, Dieticians, TVN’s and other specialists as required.

If this short-term placement went well and the service user would like to remain at Coast Care Centre on a long-term basis, then this is something that can be offered as and when the home has vacancies.
