Proudly Employee Owned
Coast Care Group is an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT). This means our staff don’t just work here, they co-own the organisation and its future. Instead of shareholders or private owners, our people hold responsibility for protecting our ethos, values, and long-term vision.
By choosing employee ownership, we’ve secured our culture for generations to come. Every decision we make is guided by what matters most: the lived experiences, dignity, and well-being of those we care for.

What is an Employee Ownership Trust?
An Employee Ownership Trust is a model where a business is held in trust for the benefit of its employees. In practice, it means:
· Our people have a voice in how the organisation is run.
· Our values are protected — the business can’t be sold to outside investors.
· Profits are shared through tax-free bonuses, rewarding staff for their commitment.
· Decisions are made for the right reasons — to benefit residents, clients, families, and staff alike.
It’s a model that puts people before profit and ensures Coast Care Group remains focused on compassionate, high-quality care.

Our Story
Coast Care began in 2003 when Kevin and Lynda Dewhurst purchased Whitebriars Care Home. From the start, they wanted to do things differently, placing residents’ lived experiences at the heart of care. Over the years, the group grew to include Whitecliff, Whitebeach, and Coast Care Centre, alongside Coast Community Care, our domiciliary service across East Sussex.
In 2024, Kevin and Lynda entrusted the company’s future to its people by creating the Employee Ownership Trust. This ensures that the culture they built, one of dignity, compassion, and innovation in care, continues for generations to come.

A Voice for Our People
Being employee-owned means every member of staff has a stake in our success. Our Employee Council, made up of elected representatives from across the group, meets regularly with our Trustee and Operational Boards. Together, they ensure staff voices are heard, ideas are shared, and improvements are made. This structure means that the people who deliver care day-to-day help shape the future of Coast Care Group.

Why It Matters for Families
For families, employee ownership offers peace of mind. Coast Care Group cannot be sold to outside investors, our values and culture are protected.
Families can trust that the same ethos of compassionate, person-centred care will continue long into the future, with staff who feel proud, supported, and invested in what they do
