About Whitebeach
The Whitebeach has an interesting history as it formed the accommodation quarters for St Augustine’s Nursing Home sisters, after the original building became full. Later it became a care home and then student accommodation.
In 2013 Coast Care purchased the building and converted it back into a residential care home undertaking extensive internal and external refurbishment. Now, it is a beautiful, bright and spacious Care Home for older people with Dementia.

Facilities & Amenities
The Whitebeach can accommodate 39 residents. All the bedrooms have en-suite facilities, and some are perfectly suited to couples, due to their size and proportions. They are individually decorated and all have a bright outlook.
There are two living areas, one of which is our large newly extended day centre, along with a coffee bar where drinks and snacks can be made. This day centre opens out onto a large decking area over looking the extensive gardens.
The garden has recently been re-modelled and landscaped to create a beautiful sensory garden with a water feature and attractive pergola.
There is a purpose built hairdressing salon and village area leading to the dining room which is partitioned in the middle to create a more personal dining experience.
There is a lift to all floors, and a wide ramp at the front of the property for ease of access.

Kevin & Lynda Dewhurst
Kevin, alongside his wife Lynda, started the company in 2003 when they purchased Whitebriars. Prior to this, Kevin had spent most of his career in the construction industry, before he decided he needed a career change. Whilst Kevin & Lynda did not have a background in care prior to this, they quickly identified the areas of care that were failing and made it their mission to ensure Coast Care Homes Ltd was a leader in providing innovative outcomes and outstanding person-centred care. Kevin & Lynda have both been ever-present at all services and supports the management teams daily, offering experience and guidance. Kevin & Lynda’s inspiration came from David Sheard from Dementia Care Matters, and the ethos instilled is present in all the services
In January 2026, Kevin & Lynda made the decision to appoint Danielle as Joint-CEO alongside Kevin. This move allows Kevin to support and mentor Danielle in this role, whilst ensuring the consistency of the company for the future.
Lindsey Sherwood
Lindsey started with Coast Care in January 2022, joining the company as an Operations Manager. Lindsey has a Level 5 Degree in Health & Social Care and has a wealth of experience in care. Prior to joining Coast Care Homes, had been overseeing a group of small Learning Disability homes. Lindsey is passionate about person-centred care and it’s because of this, that she has been such a good fit at Coast Care Homes. Lindsey’s strengths are in her calm and caring nature, which allows her to never be flustered and is excellent at problem solving in moments of difficulty.
Lindsey has also shown strength in her staff management skills, in being able to effectively communicate Coast Care Homes vision for all staff joining the company. Lindsey currently is involved in an Operational oversite role for all the services, however, has day to day involvement with Whitebriars Care Home, Whitebeach Care Home & Whitecliff Nursing Home, supporting the management teams at these services.
Rukayya Quin
Rukayya joined in 2013 as a Care Assistant and has progressed through several roles to become Manager of Whitebeach. Hardworking and committed, she builds excellent relationships with families, residents and her staff team.
Cristina Cunanan
Cristina joined from the Philippines in 2022 as a Care Assistant. Her compassion, empathy and efficiency quickly stood out. Now Deputy Manager at Whitebriars, she continues to bring the same dedication to residents and staff.

The Whitebeach occupies a prominent position at the crossroads of Upper Maze Hill and Pevensey Road, diagonally opposite the attractive St John the Evangelist church. It is also neighbour to St Michaels Hospice which is well known in the area.
The St Leonards Warrior Square train station is a 10 minute walk from the home, and Hastings Seafront is a 15 minute downhill walk.

At Whitebriars, we provide high quality residential, complex, day and respite care, as well as organising activities and days out. We accept residents with earlier stages progressive memory loss, frailty, vulnerability, and mobility issues.
At Whitebeach, we offer residential care for individuals who may no longer be able to live independently but do not require dementia or nursing care. Our staff provide discreet support with daily tasks such as washing, dressing, meals and medication, while encouraging people to retain independence and choice in their lives. Care plans are designed around each resident’s needs, promoting comfort, dignity and a positive quality of life.
Whitebeach also provides specialist care for people living with dementia, including those with more advanced needs. Our approach is person-centred, focusing on reducing anxiety, supporting familiarity and helping each individual feel safe and valued. Staff undertake dementia-specific training and use proven techniques to ensure that care is compassionate, structured and responsive to changing needs.
In addition to long-term placements, Whitebeach offers day care and respite breaks. These short-term services give families the opportunity to rest while ensuring their loved one remains supported, stimulated and engaged. We also run regular minibus trips and community activities, helping people maintain social connections and enjoy a varied lifestyle.
