More Activities November ’24

Resident rolling out pastry for baking

Despite the colder wet weather, our regular bus trips continued, providing opportunities for residents to explore and connect with the local community. Highlights included:

  • Visits to garden centres for a touch of nature and view lots of Christmas decorations.
  • Trips to our holiday home at Combe Haven where residents enjoyed having breakfast cooked for them.
  • Fun explorations at Hastings Aquarium.
  • Relaxing visits to local cafés and pubs.

These outings offer significant benefits, promoting well-being and independence for those who wish to participate.

While we saved the main Christmas festivities for December, we got a head start towards the end of November:

  • Mobile Pantomime: A lively afternoon of singing, dancing, and laughter.
  • Christmas Crafts: Residents started creating stunning Christmas decorations, including vibrant wall murals that now brighten every home. Sarah from ‘The painted ladies’ works with our activity teams and residents ensuring the communal areas look wonderful.

We continued with our varied schedule of engaging activities tailored to suit different interests and abilities:

  • Baking: From one-on-one soup-making sessions in rooms to group jam tart and cake baking afternoons.
  • Sensory Activities: Including playing with shaving foam and experimenting with light displays and essential oils.
  • Pampering: Manicures, pedicures, and visits from Natalie, our talented hairdresser.
  • Traditional Games: Floor games, floor snooker, and classic board games.
  • Art & Crafts: Designing colourful decorations and murals.
  • Flower Arranging: Talented residents make beautiful displays.
  • Indoor Gardening: Creating some colour for our outside pots.
  • Church Services: Hosted by our local church to offer spiritual comfort.

Helen and Jane from DSES (Dementia Singing East Sussex) continued to bring joy and laughter with their engaging and interactive dementia singing sessions, a firm favourite among our residents.

November was a truly vibrant month, filled with diverse opportunities for residents to connect, create, and celebrate. We look forward to continuing the festive spirit in December.
