Our Approach to Nursing Care

Our qualified nurses work alongside experienced carers and other healthcare professionals to provide the right balance of clinical support, everyday care and independence. Depending on assessed needs, support may include:

  • Medication management
  • Wound and pressure-area care
  • PEG feeding and care
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Catheter and stoma care
  • Diabetes and insulin management
  • Syringe drivers
  • Complex and progressive health conditions
  • Palliative and end-of-life nursing care

Every placement starts with an individual assessment so that we can be confident we have the right people, environment and support in place.

Nursing Care Should Still Feel Like Living

Having complex health needs shouldn’t mean that everyday life becomes entirely about appointments, medication and clinical care. This is something we feel strongly about at Coast Care Group. We believe that positive outcomes and someone’s daily lived experience are just as important as the clinical and medical aspects of their care. That means getting to know what somebody enjoys, encouraging independence wherever possible and creating opportunities to remain active and connected.

Our residents can take part in activities within their home as well as regular trips into the local community. Depending on the individual, that might mean visiting cafés and pubs, shopping, going to a garden centre or theatre, enjoying a trip out in one of our minibuses or simply spending time doing something they enjoy. We even have an accessible holiday home that gives residents the opportunity to enjoy a break with support from carers and, where appropriate, family members. Clinical care is there when it’s needed. But it doesn’t have to define every part of someone’s day.
